LAM Yuen Ching, PhD

Lam Yuen Ching is a researcher, music tutor, and cellist. She holds a doctoral degree in anthropology from the University of Canterbury, a master’s degree in musicology from the University of Otago, a master’s degree in Buddhist studies, and a bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Hong Kong. Ching is a regular member of Canterbury Cellists, a cello ensemble that performs for the public throughout the year. She has practiced mindfulness since 2004. Her doctoral research focuses on the teachings and practices of Zen Master Thích Nhất Hạnh. In her column, “Zen Journeys with Thích Nhất Hạnh,” Ching shares her experiences, findings, discoveries, and photos from this research. This column, intended as a tribute to this great Zen master, is published monthly.
